Pioneer XPRS15 2400w peak Active PA Speaker

The Pioneer XPRS15 is the latest 15-inch, 2400watt peak, active PA speaker released from the legendary Pioneer DJ brand.  Within the 15mm birch plywood casing are powerful yet energy efficient Powersoft Class D amplifiers, 15-inch ferrite LF cone driver, 1.75-inch titanium diaphragm neodymium compression driver, AFAST technology (from Pioneer Pro Audio) and four EQ modes with in-built DSP all to aid in the top-quality, deep bass range and precise sound output you would expect from Pioneer.  The frequency response is 40Hz to 20kHz, maximum SPL is 136dB and the crossover frequency is 2.0kHz.

The Powersoft Class D amps provide an impressive 2400watt peak and 1200watt continuous output.  The active speaker is able to offer a dependable performance, energy efficiently, due to the Power Factor Correction (PFC) it incorporates.  The XPRS15 contains an auto-ranging power supply which means that the speaker can be used worldwide; using whatever power is available and still produces the clear and exact high-class sound. 

The first-rate ferrite LF and compression driver are both used to deliver a concise and complete array of sound with minimal distortion even when the sound it at its highest.  The AFAST technology is mainly aimed at lessening standing waves that may create a muffled response in the low to mid ranges.  There is an acoustic tube fixed inside the active speaker which takes in the standing waves resulting in a growth of low-frequency response. 

Situated on the rear of the Pioneer XPRS15 active speaker are buttons that allow direct access to the four EQ modes; Bass+ (increases the bass for dance music), Flat (source audio is at neutral), Wedge (to be used when the speaker is placed on the floor as it lessens the low frequencies) and Speech (used for clearer vocals e.g. presentation). 

The speaker is lightweight and easily transportable and includes specifically placed handles to assist with spreading out the weight.  The XPRS15 can be either pole-mounted or placed on the floor and has the option to be used as a foldback monitor for any stage performances.  The speaker can be mounted horizontally or vertically by using the rotatable horn on the speaker giving a 90x60 degree distribution and 90-degree rotation or tilted to 7 degrees.  There are many input and outputs for the XPRS15 speaker which include two balanced XLR/TRS combo sockets, two unbalanced RCA connections, two XLR through output, 1 XLR mixed output and a MIC/AUX connection.

Finally, the Pioneer two-way active speaker incorporates thermal limiting features (to look after the amp and speaker) including:

• Thermal limiter – avoids overheating
• DC offset removal – speaker shuts down as damage prevention if the speaker blows.
• Input voltage limiter – RMS and Peak
• Output voltage limiter – shuts off the LF and compression drivers individually when either reach their peak
• AC mains over-voltage protection – guards against power surges
• Output overcurrent – minimises the speaker’s output to a safe level in the event of an output overcurrent
• Stationary high-frequency loud signals – guards the speaker from loud bursts like feedback
