Quick overview

The Novation Bass Station II Swifty Edition is a rare, limited-edition release which fuses the legendary Bass Station II with the unmistakable visual flair of Ian “Swifty” Swift (the creative force behind the era-defining looks of Mo’ Wax, Talkin’ Loud, Straight No Chaser, and more). Under the hood, it is the same powerful synth that delivers thundering bass, screaming leads, lush paraphonic textures, and out-there effects, all wrapped in a design that is every bit as expressive as the sounds it creates.

The Novation Bass Station II has earned its reputation as a powerhouse of analogue synthesis since its debut in 2013. With rich sound-shaping capabilities and unmistakable character, it has been a go-to for producers and performers for over a decade. Now, this iconic synth gets a visual remix from legendary graphic designer Ian “Swifty” Swift—known for shaping the look of Mo’ Wax, Straight No Chaser, and the underground UK music scene.

This limited-edition release features Swifty’s signature style, with bold typography and artwork that pays homage to rave flyers, dubplate culture, and DIY zines. It is a fresh new look for a synth that has long been a driving force in electronic music.

Beyond Basslines

Whether you are performing live or producing in the studio, Bass Station II delivers. Shape warm, subtle tones or dial up the intensity with distortion and filter modulation. Push the resonance into self-oscillation for gritty leads and rich, expressive textures.

Fully analogue. Infinitely flexible.

Equipped with two oscillators and a sub-oscillator to deliver powerful low-end, Bass Station II delivers thick, raw analogue tones. Shape your sound further with pulse-width modulation, ring modulation, and a noise source. Choose between classic and acid-style analogue filters, then tweak with dual LFOs and ADSR envelopes for deep modulation and sound sculpting.

Sound Design Made Simple

With a hands-on control layout that encourages exploration, Bass Station II makes complex synthesis intuitive and fun. Save your custom creations in one of the 64 onboard user slots for instant recall.

Presets to Keep you Inspired

Preloaded with 64 expertly crafted patches showcasing the synth’s range, Bass Station II offers immediate sonic inspiration. There are even more presets available in Novation's online library of downloadable artist patches.

Exclusive New Sounds

To mark the launch of this special edition, Noavtion have included a new bank of presets from top artists including Legowelt, Pecq, and Maria Chiara Argirò which adds fresh creative fuel right out of the box.

Built-in Arpeggiator and Sequencer

Kickstart melodies fast with an onboard arpeggiator and step sequencer. Record patterns in real time, sync to your DAW or MIDI gear, and add groove with easily adjustable swing settings.

Seamless Integration with your Setup

Bass Station II is ready to slot into any rig. With 5-pin MIDI In/Out, USB MIDI, sustain pedal input, external audio input (to run sounds through the analogue filters), and a headphone output, it is built to connect. It runs on USB power and is class-compliant—no drivers required.

Play Two Notes at Once with Paraphonic Mode

Break free from monophony. Paraphonic mode lets you play two notes simultaneously—great for exploring layered textures and complex harmonics. Experiment with oscillator sync, ring mod, and filter mod for truly unique sounds.

AFX Mode: Individual Patches Per Key

Co-developed with Aphex Twin, AFX Mode transforms the keyboard into a patch playground - assign a different sound to each key for evolving melodies, glitched-out effects, or even a full drum kit mapped across the keys. Perfect for live experimentation or off-the-wall studio creations.

Components: your Synth’s Digital Companion

The Components app gives you full control of your Bass Station II’s patch library. Back up your sounds, load AFX overlays, upload custom tuning tables, personalise your startup message, and more. Use it as a desktop app or access it directly through Chrome on Mac® or PC.
