The Korg Monologue is a next-generation monophonic analogue synthesiser that inherits the same intuitive features and circuitry as the critically-acclaimed Minilogue but with an entirely new voice and dynamic new functions. The Monologue comes with a compact 25-key keybed alongside a sleek layout with a high-quality construction that looks professional and succinct while the knob per function workflow is easily accessible even for those unfamiliar with a synthesiser. The brand new sound sculpting abilities include a filter modulation, drive, and an LFO which help you shape powerful basses and sharp, vibrant leads for monophonic sounds that perfectly showcase the single-voice design.

The Monologue is equipped with monophonic analogue synthesiser circuitry that builds upon the circuitry of the Minilogue with a redesigned envelope section, modulation routing, and a filter that features powerful low-end punch. The layout includes two voltage controlled oscillators, one voltage controlled filter, one envelope generator, one voltage controlled amplifier, and a low-frequency oscillator that help you shape your sounds with fluidity and has wave shaping abilities that develop the overtones as well as a sync/ring switch.

A new drive circuit provides additional overtones and distortion to your sounds allowing you to create huge basses and vibrant leads while the LFO rate can be altered to an unprecedented ultra-high speed for generating crazy sound effects or can be switched to one-shot mode which will act as an additional envelope. The filter uses a two-pole design to deliver aggressive sounds while the keyboard comes with a range of E-E notes just like a guitar or bass.

The Monologue has 100 preset locations, simply select a program for instant access to excellent sounds ranging from huge basses and subs to vivid cutting leads as well as percussive sequences so you do not need an in-depth knowledge around synthesis to use this unit, just choose a sound and tweak the controls to your heart’s content. The synthesiser comes with 80 pre-programmed sounds created by some of the world’s top musicians as well as 20 user slots for saving your own custom sounds to be used later on.

A 16 step sequencer lets you create complex musical rhythms which can be easily captured and edited and supports real-time recording and overdubbing capabilities as well as a step recorder that enables you to record melodies with ease while 16 physical buttons allow for quick editing and improvisational performances. A motion sequence function works to record all of your knob movements which acts as a modulation or automation source and lets you record continuous changes to your sounds. A key trigger function enables you to play back a sequence while you keep a note held down and then can transpose it while a portamento function lets you generate smooth basslines by specifying glide for each step.

An integrated OLED display shows the waveform in real-time as you sculpt your sound; this oscilloscope provides you with visual feedback that is both educational and entertaining and a first for a hardware synthesiser. The display also offers a visualisation for the value levels of your motion sequenced patterns so you can see your motion sequence as it happens. Unlike most synthesisers the Monologue can be run off of batteries, so you do not need to worry about additional power supplies when on-stage while the lightweight body and compact build make it a perfect travel companion.
