The Korg Electribe is a synthesiser-based music production workstation that turns inspiration into interesting sounds within seconds and contains a variety of analogue oscillators alongside a wealth of filtering options; whether you’re searching for sounds or detail editing a sound all operations are controlled via the top panel knobs. A variety of input interfaces enable you to rapidly and seamlessly create rhythms, basslines, and melodies which makes it perfect for both on-stage use for live performances or in the studio for quickly making beats and tracks.

The integrated sound engine comes equipped with 55 different types of analogue modelling oscillations which gives you the flexibility to quickly create exciting sounds, you can choose simple waveforms such as saw, pulse, triangle, and sine, or more complex waveforms including sync, ring mod, cross mod and VPM; the parameters have been carefully chosen to give you maximum effect with minimal editing needed. This means you can select an oscillator and turn the knobs to create basslines, polyphonic synth sounds, vibrant pads, as well as an infinite variety of any other synthesised sound. You are also provided with PCM oscillators that are perfect for creating melodic phrases and beats and include 257 drum/perc sounds, 44 instrument sounds such as piano, organ, brass, and guitar as well as 52 types of voice and sound effects.

Numerous filter types help to further shape your sound, with a total of 16 different filtering algorithms such as MS-20, MG, P5, OB, and Acid which all work to simulate the sonic colouring of classic synthesiser filters. You can choose which style of filter would work best for your track and then alter the cutoff and resonance controls to create compelling, energetic sounds. Modulation is highly important for your sonic creativity, which is why the Electribe is fitted with an envelope generator and low-frequency oscillator that can be paired with filter cutoff, and oscillator pitch, you can choose any of the 72 modulation types and then alter the speed and depth to get the exact modulation you want from your sound. A selection of 32 insert effects allows you to add the final touches to your creations and includes compressors, overdrive, distortions, and EQ, giving you un-compromised control over the nuances in your sound.

The Electribe comes with 16 velocity-sensitive performance pads as well as an X/Y touchpad that allows you to control effects parameters and input notes. The performance pads can be used in four different modes; trigger mode will enable you to trigger samples and sounds, you can lay down drum and percussion patterns easily and give your drums a human sound. The sequencer mode offers a 16 step sequencer allowing you to input up to 64 steps for each part and has the ability to create tracks by combining up to 16 of these parts per sequence pattern, this method makes it super-easy to see the timing of the notes and can be used for both editing and recording in real-time. Keyboard mode allows you to play the pads just as you would a keyboard so you can arrange and record melodies on the fly. Chord mode works the same as keyboard mode, but instead of a single note being triggered, you get a whole chord triggered.

The X/Y touchpad comes with two different modes that include gate arp mode which allows you to play drum and bass grooves easily, while playing in arp mode the trigger pads help generate rhythmically detailed phrases. Touch scale mode is great for those who are not comfortable playing the keyboard and is also a great way to generate some inspiration, simply move your finger around the touchpad, and it’ll generate some exciting patterns and phrases. A motion sequence function records and reproduces all of your knobs movements which works as automation and allows you to add time-varying movements to your patterns and sounds.
