The HK Audio CTA118S is a heavy-duty active subwoofer that is equipped with a robust 2000w Class D amplifier that works seamlessly as the speaker’s powerful engine. The large woofer helps provide you with a solid, punchy low-end bass response that is the perfect companion for any of the HK Audio Contour series speakers. The CTA118S is fitted with a large 18-inch low-frequency woofer that seamlessly delivers a frequency response that ranges from 36 Hz – 140 Hz, a low ranging yet clearly defined low-end bass response with excellent accuracy even when handling the heaviest load. A bi-amplified design makes use of a 2000w Class D amplifier that is split into two 1000w RMS PWN power amplifiers. One amplifier drives the 18-inch woofer; the other amp is designed to give power to satellite, front of house, and on-stage monitor speakers. A 56-bit DDO-Pro digital controller acts as an onboard limiter to prevent you from overloading the subwoofer with overdriven and loud signals. There are also active circuit protectors to stop the sub from damaging itself and include a thermal protector as well as a short circuit protector.

The CTA 118S comes with a rear panel that offers audio connections for linking and daisy chaining PA speaker together to make a full PA system and also allows you to connect directly from DJ mixers, amplifiers, and mixing desks. The audio connections include an XLR female port, an electronically and floating DDO-Pro connection, and a RS 485 Ethercon connection for connecting to networked systems via Dante.

This subwoofer is housed inside of a heavy-duty, highly-durable 18mm thick Birch plywood cabinet that is finished with textured black polyurethane lacquer that prevents impacts from damaging the integrity of the cabinet. A large metal grille covers the driver keeping it protected and is backed with acoustically transparent foam that stops dust and dirt from entering the system. Several integrated handles let you easily transport the speaker between gigs while an M20 plate enables you to mount a satellite directly on top of the subwoofer.
