Denon DJ hasn’t taken their foot off the pedal, and have embraced the New Year with a huge announcement, that they are releasing new Prime Series equipment in the form of the SC6000 and SC6000M Media Players, and the X1850 Mixer. There have been several new upgrades made and new features added to the latest gear, which we have laid out below.
SC6000/SC6000M Prime Media Players
Firstly, Denon DJ has graced both the SC6000 and SC6000M Prime Media Players with 10.1-inch touchscreens. The high-definition screens feature gesture support (where detailed information can be displayed), while users can navigate, filter, search and organise their music. There is an option for an on-screen keyboard, great for searching, along with a dual-layer playback of track waveforms.
Let’s move on to the next improved feature, the jog wheel. The SC6000 features an enlarged robust 8.5-inch jog wheel platter, that has precision feeling and adjustable smooth tension ideal for a DJ to customise to their preference. The SC6000M also features an enlarged 8.5-inch jog wheel platter which is motorised and features a new ‘quick-release’ vinyl design. The motorised jog wheel has modifiable torque range adjustment, is powered by a brushless DC electric motor, which offers turntablists ultimate platter control.
Next on the feature-rich list is Wi-Fi. Both the SC6000 and SC6000M have in-built Wi-Fi along with wired internet connection. Music Streaming is becoming more and more at the forefront of technology, so having this feature means DJs can play music from partnered services including Beatport, SoundCloud, Beatsource and TIDAL.
Engine OS is the software that powers the SC6000/SC6000M and has fast become known for its continuous feature upgrades. It is first within the DJ industry to have certain standalone features such as on-board track preview, on-the-go music analysis and leading timestretch and musical key change algorithms. It is worth noting that both the media players bring with them advanced control of Serato DJ Pro, which allows for touchscreen navigation and hardware control of all the FX, performance and filter features.
