The DDJ-SP1 can be added to a setup that supports mixing and scratching with Serato DJ e.g. laptop, PC, DJM-900SRT, timecode CDJ/turntables or DDJ-S1 controller.  Users are then able to access the pre-mapped buttons and dials to activate the software’s 8 hot cues, 6 samples and 30+ FX Powered by iZotope all without having to access a keyboard or mouse.

The controller includes 16 rubber LED pads where 7 modes are able to be triggered – Hot Cue, Roll, Slicer, Sample, Auto Loop, Hot Loop and Manual Loop.  The SP1 also includes Velocity Mode which allows the DJ to control the volume of the samples dependant on how hard the pads are hit.  Slip Mode allows more accurate and efficient loops, scratches and reverses whilst playback quietly continues, and at exactly the right point, the track is brought back.

Just like its predecessor, the Digital DDJ-SX, the SP1 has been designed and constructed to be strong and sturdy, and to uphold excitable use. The controller looks smart with the aluminium facade, durable rubber pads and overall slim build.  The lightweight and sturdy construction enables the Pioneer DDJ-SP1 to be placed in flexible locations (with or without the use of the T-U101 S-stand which is sold separately) and to be set up instantly.

Manage all Serato DJ features

The DDJ-SP1’s pre-mapped buttons, fader and dials have been designed purposely for managing all Serato DJ features.  The layout is similar to Pioneers’ well known controller range for ease of use and familiarity amongst DJs.  Here are some of the newest features:

FX Knob/Button – this is used to manage iZotope including effects in Serato DJ.

Slip Mode - this allows more accurate and efficient loops, scratches and reverses whilst playback quietly continues, and at exactly the right point, the track is brought back which is all managed by the user.  Accurate loops, scratches and reverses can be made through the use of Slip Mode when a DJ controller or CD player is connected.

Sampler Volume Fader – allows efficient finger drum performance.  The volume is able to be controlled naturally though the taps of the fingers.

Performance Pads – there are 16 durable, LED lit, rubber Performance Pads that are allocated to 7 modes: Roll, Sample, Hot Cue, Slicer, Hot Loop, Manual Loop and Auto Loop.  The Performance Pads includes Velocity Mode which allows the user to manage the sample volume dependent upon the applied pressure.  The LED lit pads show the user the position of play.

Serato Video plug-in free download for sound and image control

A voucher is included in the box with the DDJ-SP1 that entitles the user to a free download of the Serato Video sound and image control plug-in.  This plug-in works in line with Serato, including the software e.g. Scratch Live, Serato DJ and ITCH.  The plug-in enables easy insertion of a variety of effects, video mixes and image files to be synced to the music.

Pioneer have worked closely with Serato to produce a piece of high quality hardware that would provide an effective and efficient link between them both.  The DDJ-SP1 has dedicated controls for all Serato DJ’s features:

• Syncable six slot sample bank
• Auto Loops, Manual Loops and Loop Roll, for even more loop options
• Slicer to chop up tracks and create new arrangements

The controller is also fully MIDI assignable enabling it to control any DJ software and it can be mounted using the Pioneer T-U101 X-stand which is sold separately.
