The Novation SL MK3 range of keyboard controllers are receiving a new firmware update that will bring with it some powerful new features, new compositions and enhanced performance, resulting in greater flexibility of the SL MKIII keyboards. The latest update also introduces eight independent arpeggiators, new sequencer functions and creative transpositions.
Key features of the update:
- Arpeggiator – the new probability feature brings controlled randomness to each arpeggiator, which then turns the SL MK3 into a procreative instrument.
- Per-part arpeggiator – complex polyrhythmic patterns can be built using each of the eight parts, which have now got individual, independent arpeggiators.
- Sequencer transposition (with pads) – the sequencer transposition can be used as a powerful tool by using the SL MKIII pads.
- Octave Pattern Transpose – find the perfect pith or experiment with ideas using the SL MK3 keyboard controller which now allows patterns to be transposed across the octave range.
- Programmed probability step – creative and musical palette enhancements can come as a result of altering the probability of a programmed step.
- Pattern shift – the start and endpoints of a pattern can be effortlessly offset to allow for variation exploration and managing sequences, through nudging the pattern in and out of phase.
- Swing per-part – more complex rhythmic results can be built using a contrast of groove layers by swinging on or off per-part, ideal for creating new rhythms.
- Pitch bend to CV – more performance expression possibilities and external hardware control applications can be opened up by mapping the pitch-bend wheel to the CV output.
Not only does the latest update bring new features, it also brings with it bug fixes for the keyboard controller range, including one for Logic Pro users.
