New Plug-in Collective Offer: Black Rooster Audio

Every two months Focusrite release a new Plug-in Collective Offer which includes access to one new plug-in for free. From the 9th July 2020 to 3rd September 2020, Focusrite brings you a fantastic tape emulation, Magnetite, from Black Rooster Audio. Not only will you gain free access to the German Developers plugin but you will also be privy to a massive discount on Black Rooster’s expansive Compressor Bundle.

Black Rooster Audio Magnetite

The plugin is all about infusing your productions with the sound of analogue tape. The sound that it emulates ensures the drums, bass and vocals are boosted, and brings colour to the master bus.
There are three types to choose from:

1. Low Frequency – bumped Black
2. High Frequency – emphasising Blue
3. Neutral Red

The record level knob can be turned up high to transform your sounds with electro-magnetic saturation, from slight warming at low settings to evident distortion when at the higher settings. Modifying the frequency response with the Tape Seed and Bias Controls to allow for truer tape deck authenticity. Any gain added by any increase to the Record Level can be countered through the Playback Level knob, and the PPM-style VU meters are switchable between monitoring input and output levels.

This plug-in is suitable for anyone who wants to add that retro analogue vibe to their sounds. It is a powerful creative tool full of depth and would match producers of lo-fi, synthwave and other retro styles.

Magnetite is worth $89, but Plug-in Collective Members can download It from their Focusrite account for free from now until the 3rd September 2020. Not only that, but members will also find themselves armed with a discount code which will allow them to purchase Black Rooster’s Compressor Bundle for $249 which usually retails at $684. The compressor bundle consists of six-packs, five analogue-modelled emulations of vintage classics and a new zero-latency design that has been created in collaboration with multi-platinum mix engineer Koen Heldens.

A statement from Focusrite Plug-in Collective Product Manager Jonathan Campbell - “This month, we’ve teamed up with Black Rooster Audio to offer their amazing sounding tape emulation, Magnetite. What I most enjoy about using this plug-in is the variation in tape types available, and the wide range of effects you can achieve with them. Used on a drum buss, it adds a really nice saturation and glueing effect, and just by driving the input, you can add a load of crunch and fatness. Magnetite can be used on most sounds to get more tape feel, and it’s super easy to get quick results with!”.
