Latest DJ News May 2021

21 May 2021

Surprisingly, it has been a relatively quiet month. Many people were waiting for the 17th of May when the next stage in the road to coming out of lockdown was carried out. This resulted in indoor spaces being able to open along with many other venues. How do you feel about it? How is it affecting you? Brands and businesses have continued to work across the industry, so read on for the latest new releases and news.

New Releases

First, let’s start with Akai, who released the MPC One Retro Limited Editon. The layout and colours of the unit give it its classic feel whilst it incorporates modern technology, along with featuring the complete multi-core MPC workflow.

Pioneer DJ that Algoriddm’s djay PRO AI

It has been confirmed by Pioneer DJ that Algoriddm’s djay PRO AI for Mac is now officially supported. This means that playlists can be browsed directly in djay PRO AI and access to the streaming services are available when connected to the player. Loops, Hot Cues, scratching, and more can be controlled using the CDJ-3000’s interface. Remember, a licence is required to use djay PRO AI with the CDJ-3000 multi-player.

Mixed In Key 10

Mixed In Key 10 has been introduced, which claims to be the number 1 best key detection across the globe. It aims to assist in organising your music by key and energy level, which can then be used by leading DJ software such as Pioneer DJ, Serato DJ, Traktor and Ableton. Automatic cue points can be set, and metadata can be cleared in the tag section, which provides better key detection, better playlists and ultimately provides the basis for better mixing.

In Key 10, a new algorithm has been designed in collaboration with world-leading data scientists. It claims to be at least 10% more accurate than the next best available key detection software and 95% accuracy compared to pitch-perfect musicians, which is a very bold statement in our eyes. Key 10 now allows cue points to be exported to reckordbox and its revised layout aims to ensure better mixing options.
