Big news from Facebook. In the coming weeks, they are going to allow artists to charge viewers to access a live video stream. It is a bid to help artists, small businesses and creators generate some income while dealing with the effects surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic.
When the option comes into effect pages will be able to mark their event as ‘online only’ and subsequently the live stream to be shown to ‘guests’, those who have paid, only.
The finer details, like how payment will work, need to be established, and there isn’t a date yet when the actual feature, and terms surrounding it, are released. So far, Facebook has stipulated “in the coming weeks”.
Additionally, Facebook is bringing back their ‘Live With’ feature, where users can add another account to the stream. We can see this being a popular choice with many.
