It depends upon which brand/model of controller you choose that will determine what software you end up using. It is worth noting that most controllers are MIDI mappable (meaning other software can be used in conjunction with the named controller) however this is not recommended, as not all the features are fully compatible.

Numark Mixtrack Platinum DJ Controller £219

The Mixtrack Platinum DJ Controller is a 4-deck 2-channel mixer which comes equipped with an audio interface and is USB powered. The Traktor S2 MK2 is a 2-deck 2-channel mixer with an in-built 24-bit/96kHz audio interface, four sample and four hot cue buttons, two pressure sensitive jog wheels, 3-band EQ and is USB bus-powered. There is a 6.3mm jack microphone connection and a 6.3mm jack headphone connection. The Traktor Kontrol S2 also includes both a recording and booth output.

This Native Instruments controller comes with a copy of Traktor Pro software and a plug-and-play capability with Traktor DJ for iPad and iPhone (not only that but both devices get charged during use). Pioneer DDJ-SB3 DJ Controller £229

The DDJ-SB3 has been specifically designed for use with Serato DJ Lite, which features Pad Scratch (co-developed with DJ Jazzy Jeff). This is to cater for users who prefer the look and feel of Serato, as opposed to Rekordbox, however still like to use a Pioneer DJ controller.

The SB3 is a 2-deck 2-channel controller which features two aluminium jog wheels, eight performance pads (on each deck), dedicated Auto Loop, 45mm temp fader and dedicated play/cue/sync/shift buttons,
