Akai FORCE Firmware Update 3.0.5

8 October 2020

Akai Professional has released firmware update 3.0.5 for the FORCE which includes a linear arranger with intuitive navigation menus, MIDI Multi for expanded USB device connectivity and Ableton Live session import.

The free update means users have access to a new set of tools that allows for extended creativity right from the get-go. The already standalone power of the Force was good, but the workflow has just been made even better!

FORCE Firmware update 3.0.5 Key Features

• Arranger mode makes completing a song a breeze
• MIDI Multi for expanding device connection options
• Ableton Live Project Import
• Assign control parameters to 64 pads, touch UI and crossfader
• Macros which allow layered parameter assignments, automations and effects
• Advanced 16-level functionality for dynamic sample triggering

Start to Finish Standalone Power

The introduction of the Arranger means that new songs and jams can be completed rapidly and with minimal effort. The GUI (Graphical User Interface) can be navigated quickly to make editing and revising possible with only a few screen touches. If you are unsure of the arrangement that you have recorded, then you can launch clips against your linear arrangement until you have created the ideal piece. When you are happy, you have the option to export the track to the final stereo master which features processing from the onboard effects, or export as a separate audio track.

Get connected with MIDI Multi

The FORCE already comes complete with MIDI Din, CV/Gate and USB 3.0 ports, and now with the MIDI Multi-feature that the update brings, means you can now have full control, independently, of MIDI tracks for up to 32 devices via USB. Your favourite synths, modules MIDI-based effects and more can be accessed when you connect your class-compliant MIDI hub. Using Track and Master settings means MIDI device names can be altered, layering of MIDI tracks can be actioned and setting device behaviour. This feature is excellent for onstage or in the studio, and even the most complicated setups can be achieved with flexible routing and keeping on top of a tremendous categorising system.

Ableton Live Integration

The Akai FORCE already comes pre-mapped with Ableton Live meaning it can be directly controlled through Ableton Link. The most significant benefit of this is where you can seamlessly switch between standalone operation mode and Live Control Mode without having to stop playback. There is a new Ableton Live Project Import Function that means you can bring your Ableton projects into FORCE which negates the need for a connected laptop or computer. As a result, you have the ultimate standalone flexibility, with complete control and no external interruptions.

Increase Performance with Advanced Workflow

The new and improved features that this latest firmware update brings results in the unit bringing a quicker, smoother and more intuitive workflow to the table. It has tried to make the creative process, from start to finish, simpler. Meaning the ideas in your head can be extracted quicker than ever, and any technical barriers have been reduced. The FORCE allows you to control multiple parameters simultaneously with custom knob assignments to precisely control processing, effects or automation. The pad performance features an advanced 16-level functionality which can be enhanced further with real-time control of pitch bend, modulation and more. Custom effects racks can be created and saved, and tracks can be loaded and controlled using macro knobs and visual feedback. The FORCE and its new update offer the ultimate creative control.
