Ableton Live 9.6.1 is the new and improved production software released from Ableton. Within this latest release are bug fixes, enhancements to the Push controller and integration with the new Link technology.
The bug fixes include repairing numerous crash or lagging issues experienced when using previous versions of Live and the Push controller. One main, and important issue that has been rectified, is the recovery of Live sets following a crash. The controller itself now contains an improved and more responsive display, including enhanced colour mapping, amongst many others.
However, the most notable feature is the newly in-built Link technology. This feature allows several devices to connect, over a Local Area Network (LAN), minimising the need for a MIDI setup. It means that Link enabled iOS apps, and the tempo and beat of Live, can be synchronised over either a wireless or Ethernet connection. Link is becoming more and more popular as a feature within iOS apps enabling it to be more accessible to a wider audience.
