Quick overview

The Novation Peak is an 8-voice desktop polyphonic synthesiser with three New Oxford oscillators on each voice. Analogue where it matters, digital where it counts.

  • See full product description

Peak is Novation’s newest polyphonic desktop synthesiser with eight voices and three New Oxford oscillators for each voice. The high-quality oscillators have a pure analogue sound thanks to the NCOs (numerically controlled oscillators) yet offer the resilience of the digital world with 17 digital wavetables. The oscillators can also become a direct FM source via the NCOs or digital wavetables with the ability to cross-modulate in a recursive loop.

The Peak polyphonic synthesiser features an excellent modulation system that gives you a 16-slot modulation matrix for 16 direct assignments in the main menu controls that have been intuitively arranged for creative patch design and sound editing. The synth offers three ADSR envelopes, and two LFO’s per voice, more elaborate movements and secondary modulations can be achieved via the menu function. Also, two animate features provide instant patch transformations at the touch of a button, something every live performer needs.

The Peak synthesiser comes with a multitude of effects and processors to help you with creative sound design such as a multi-mode resonant analogue filter for each voice, three distortion points for each voice (pre-filter, post-filter and global) while all in an analogue signal chain. Other processors include an enormous sounding reverb, delay and chorus alongside an onboard arpeggiator. Peak also allows you to put expression at your fingertips thanks to the capability to receive polyphonic aftertouch.

Users can connect the Peak to modular systems via the CV modulation input and features a five-pin MIDI In/Out DIN port so you can link all your MIDI gear together. Peak can be plugged into a PC/Mac via USB allowing unlimited patches to be made and kept using the Components software.

  • Innovative New Oxford Oscillators using two waveform generating techniques: NCOs (Numerically-Controlled Oscillators) and 17 digital wavetables
  • Pre-filter and post-filter distortion per voice, plus global distortion. Polyphonic aftertouch and linear FM. High-quality reverb, delay and chorus effects, and onboard arpeggiator
  • Extensive modulation system, with 16-slot modulation matrix and 16 direct assignments controlled on the front panel.
  • Three ADSR envelopes and two LFOs per voice, plus animate buttons
  • CV modulation input for integration with modular systems
  • Compact desktop module design with optional die-cast aluminium stand for positioning (not included)
  • 3Yr Warranty on Novation

Firmware Version 2.0 Update

The latest update for Summit and Peak from Novation is the biggest one so far. Firmware v2.0 adds important changes and a lot of new features, such as stereo controls, modulation, randomness, and effects, which give you powerful tools to shape your sound.

With the new stereo controls, you can now make soundscapes that are bigger, wider, and more complex. With the addition of Chorus Modes, Flanger, Phlanger, new effects modulation destinations, and Lo-Fi delay, you can discover a lot of new tones through a range of effects improvements.

Features

  • Stereo - New spread modes, voice panning, and mod matrix panning allow stereo sound design. Create larger, richer soundscapes.
  • Modulation and unpredictability - New mod destinations, noise as a mod source, and LFO 3 and 4 parameters enable deeper, more experimental sounds. Animate Envelopes and Arpeggiator Chance enhance performance creativity.
  • Effects - Chorus Modes, Flanger, and Phlanger create new sounds. More effects modulation locations enable experimental sound design. A vintage-sounding Lo-Fi delay mode is available.
