FBT Q118S 1600w Passive Subwoofer

The FBT Q118S is a brand new, ultra-powerful subwoofer that delivers an incredibly high SPL and guarantees significant low-frequency extension. The optimisation of the port tube and woofer load volume with BEM finite element simulation helps achieve the high SPL. The carefully thought out development of the front grille and protective fabric works to minimise acoustic impedance and leads to a net improvement in performance when compared to previous models. The subwoofer also features a high excursion ceramic B&C woofer with 100mm ventilated coil and negligible power compression that ensures maximum acoustic pressure hours after use.

The Q118S is equipped with a brand new DSP (digital signal processor) with entirely new algorithms. The DSP comes with six presets, each of which features a different equalisation setting and dynamic processor calibration that extends the maximum acoustic pressure to super high levels without deterioration of sound, this tailors the subwoofer sound to the usage conditions. It also ensures absolute configurability of the sound and offers great flexibility of use alongside an impressive SPL/size ratio. Please note that this subwoofer is passive so it requires you to supply your own amplifier to get it working.

The Q118S is housed in an 18mm birch plywood cabinet that features four aluminium handles plus two M20 stand supports that can be used either on the short side or long side. This subwoofer is compatible with the MITUS 206 and MUSE 210 PA systems in a ground-stacked configuration and has been designed to allow four 100mm wheels to be fitted to the bottom of the speaker. This is an extremely versatile subwoofer that can be used in combination with a wide range of FBT speakers.

The DSP presets include:

Original: This is the general preset, suitable for most uses. The low pass filter is set at 95Hz; the peak limiter is adjusted for the perfect balance between high SPL and low distortion.

Deep: This preset boosts the subwoofer low range to approx 40Hz. The low pass filter is set to 95Hz;  the peak limiter is super fast and guarantees to remove almost all distortion caused by amplifier clipping. This does cause a little reduction in maximum SPL. Recommended for applications that require a pure sound and maximum low-frequency extension.

Punch: This preset provides maximum power concentration in the 60Hz – 95Hz frequency range. This preset is recommended for rock music and high power applications. The distortion is slightly higher because it is less limited by the peak limiter when SPL increases. The low pass filter is set to 95Hz.

Infra: The extension and absence of distortion are similar to the Deep setting however the low-pass filter differs with a setting of 75Hz. This allows the subwoofer to be ground-stacked in applications that also features a flying subwoofer. Thanks to the all-pass filter, the frequency overlap in the 50Hz – 75Hz range for the front subwoofers is perfectly in phase.

Cardioid Rear Original 1 Front: This preset should be used in applications that have two subwoofers: select the ORIGINAL preset on the speaker oriented towards the audience.

Rear Original 2 Front: This preset should be used in applications that have three subwoofers; select the ORIGINAL preset on the two speakers oriented towards the audience.
