The M-Audio BX Subwoofer was designed to work in conjunction with the BX5, BX6 or BX8 Carbon Studio Monitors to deliver deep precise bass response down to the lowest audible frequencies. Hearing the extreme low end frequencies is absolutely vital for professional producers and recording artists; so the subwoofer is a key asset to assist in making accurate mixing adjustments for producing the very best recordings and mix downs.

M-Audio's BX Subwoofer has a frequency response that extends down to 20Hz

M-Audio's BX Subwoofer has a frequency response that extends down to 20Hz (-3 dB), the lowest audible frequency. Only the very best components are used for the BX Subwoofer for optimum performance including a ” fiberglass/paper composite driver with an extra-large magnet and high-temperature 2” voice coil, powered by a hefty 240-watt Class AB internal amplifier with a variable 50-200 Hz crossover.  The cabinet is constructed of resonant-free ¾” Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) with 1” front and rear baffles and is heavily braced to get rid of  the extraneous cabinet vibrations that can deprive a subwoofer of its impact and expression.

Connect the BX Subwoofer with ease

You can easily combine the BX Subwoofer into your monitoring set-up by using the two XLR balanced/unbalanced inputs, two TRS balanced/unbalanced inputs or two unbalanced RCA inputs. You also have two XLR balanced/unbalanced outputs and two TRS balanced/unbalanced outputs for satellite speakers if you wish to use them. On the unit you will find a rotary gain control, variable 50-200 Hz crossover control to blend perfectly with L/R monitors of all sizesphase inverse switch, adjustable crossover and subwoofer bypass footswitch.  You will find the footswitch extreamly useful when you want an instant comparison of how your mix sounds with and without a dedicated subwoofer.

Don’t push Your Speakers To Their Limits

Studio monitors like the BX5, BX6 and BX8 Carbons are designed to work well as full-range monitors; so when asked to replicate bass-heavy material at extremely high volumes it can be very demanding on the speakers and awfully fatiguing to the listener. When the speakers are used in sync with the BX Subwoofer however, the system is able to reproduce full-range signals at considerably higher levels without putting any stress at all on your speaker system.
