Denon DJ have today announced they will launch the Denon DJ Prime Series later this year (2017) which is set to alter the DJ industry as it is currently known. Denon are hard at work behind the scenes to establish a worthy network of dealers who will champion the new series and as a result will be given special access. We are honoured that The DJ Shop has been selected as one of its worthy representatives!
To start, the Prime Series will include the new Engine Prime (File Analysis Software), SC5000 Prime Media Player, X1800 Prime DJ Club Mixer and VL12 Prime Direct Drive Professional DJ Turntable.
SC5000 Prime Media Player
SC5000 Prime Media Player is a sleek looking, robust unit. It contains a 7” multi-touch HD screen which displays beat gird information, meta data and musical key. From the screen, crate, playlist, history, preparation folder, music library search, quantize (on/off), continue, beatkeeper countdown, loop bar divisions and key indicator can all be accessed. Even though there is the high quality touch screen, Denon have incorporated a classic ‘Select Encoder’ which can be used separately or in conjunction with the screen itself. Additionally, the display also includes a needle drop touchstrip, zoomable waveform display, beat grid editor and has 55fps compared to the competitor unit standard of 15fps.
The player has a durable, 8” touch sensitive jog wheel which includes a suave, round HD screen capable of displaying art work or the DJ’s own logo; along with the position of loop, time and deck status. The resistance of the jog wheel can be adjusted along with the colour of the LED which circulates the wheel.
The front of the unit includes a USB port and SD card slot, whilst the rear of the media player includes 2 further USB ports and both digital and analogue audio outputs. The Prime player supports WAV, AIFF, FLAC, ALAC, MP3, M4A/AAC audio formats. There are a number of hard-wearing buttons which include manual loop, beat jump, track slip, hot cue, loop, roll and slicer. To the right of the jog wheel there is a pitch fader with pitch key lock feature, by which the algorithm has been exclusively created for the SC5000 Prime.
Engine Prime software
The engine prime software is the new music management software especially created for the new Prime Series. Music from external sources such as iTunes and Serato can be effortlessly used throughout the series.
X1800 Prime DJ Club Mixer
The Denon X1800 Prime is a 4-channel digital mixer. The FX controls include Sweep and BPM. The unit includes two USB connections ideal for both external audio devices and software. The mixer also includes Engine Connect for beatgrid locked FX. More information about the X1800 Prime Mixer to follow.
VL12 Prime Direct Drive Professional DJ Turntable
The VL12 Prime Turntable is robust and sturdy with a high-quality sound output and first-class isolation. The Chamfered platter ensures the DJs touch to be at its finest and the S-shaped tone arm is simply ideal for accurate tracking.
